How to do a "printscreen" with a MacBook/MacBook Pro on the Windows side

by Ruben Charles last modified May 25, 2008 03:59 PM

This is the case: You have a MacBook or a MacBook Pro (I supose it should work on a iMac too), and for some reason you have Windows(r) installed and want to take a screenshot (printscreen).

This was tested with BootCamp 2.0

Since the MacBook/MacBook Pro don't have a "printscreen" key you shoul try this:

Shift + Fn + F11 (If your functions key controls the hardware)
Shift + F11 (If  your function keys bahaves as normal  functions keys)

If you want take a screenshot of the active window jus add the Alt key.

Alt + Shift + Fn + F11 (If your functions key controls the hardware)
Alt + Shift + F11 (If  your function keys bahaves as normal  functions keys)

I've tried many ways to print screen on Mac Book ( I use windows XP) for more than two hours and it didn't work AT ALL.....what is the logic of creating notebook without print screen....you shouldn't upset yourself by using MAC book...anyway I feel like i'm so stupid to buy this product

mac book has print screen shortcut, but not a print screen button.
Since Windows Xp (or Vista) use drivers and software provided by bootcamp, that shortcut in windows depends on bootcamp. You should check what version of bootcamp drivers is intalled in your machine.

Hey Ruben

Thanks for the post. Using MacBook Penryn.

Shft+fn+F11 (Full screen)
Alt+Shft+Fn+F11 (Current Window)

You suggestions work A-OK

and for those running Vista, remember the "new" Snipping Tool (for drag over area snipping).

Start | Programs | Accessories | Snipping Tool

much appreciated,

Nice find! Internet rocks :D
Would be nice if you can run this command in a "1-key"-command thingy. But, it works!!
